It's been a pleasure and an honor to be part of the Greenmount West community as your Stoop Night DJ! Stoop Night has given me a special opportunity—not only to practice and fine-tune my sound system but also to connect with a vibrant, welcoming Baltimore neighborhood.

I first debuted my unique karaoke setup at Stoop Night, and it's since become a holiday tradition at Nelson Kohl!

Some of you may know that I am a computer programmer and community organizer. After co-organizing Baltimore Code & Coffee for a while, I launched a new initiative last September: Code Collective— with a greater focus on understanding and addressing economic concerns in technology. Code Collective is the closest thing Baltimore has to a tech labor union. We aim to improve the quality of local technology so as to be competitive with the rest of the world, working through social means.

This spring, I've been focused on a new initiative: a one-time event aimed at bringing together organizers from Baltimore's various tech and affinity groups, many of which I have attended personally. With renewed interest in local manufacturing, I've also been connecting with manufacturing organizations, as well as nonprofits and government agencies, recognizing the political and economic importance of collaboration.

All of these groups are now part of a growing network I've been building—and I'm excited to invite you to the next step in collaboration with GWCA:

The Tech Unity Cookout at Wonderground!

We'll be serving tacos, and inviting community and tech leaders to briefly speak about their work and organizations. It will be an excellent opportunity to network and develop the relationships vital to Baltimore's economy -- ultimately to improve the lives of ourselves and our people.
